Premiere Ratings: Fox's 'New Girl' Slays the Slot, Glee down, Tuesday

Being the new girl is hard but not for Zoey Deschanel. "New Girl" started off to solid numbers, (10.1 million) Tuesday night and even beat out fan-favorite Glee(8.9million), to help Fox win the 18-49 demo. According to TVLine.com, 'New Girl' helped improve the Glee lead out time slot up 35 percent from last years "Raising Hope" premiere.

CBS had no problems at all, winning the night in viewership with solid ratings from NCIS. The season opener drew 19.55 million and was the most watched show for the night. It's sister show NCIS Los Angeles also had a boost in viewers hitting a 16.7 rating. The freshman premiere of "Unforgettable" helped improve the 10/9c slot, up 16 percent from last years "The Good Wife"

ABC droped from last year with the Dancing With the Stars Results down 20 percent. "Body Of Proof" also was below last years premiere.

Buffy Alum Sarah Michelle Gellar's "Ringer" dipped on its second week but still was solid for CW's average numbers, zap2it.com.

Did the "New Girl" live up to the hype?
