Beware of What is Out There In The River

Who knew the Amazon could be so creepy. Paranormal Activity fans get ready because you definitely don't want to miss this ABC Network Show. ABC "The River" is one of the new midseason shows that is already getting huge buzz over. The Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, Tx had a special advance preview of the 2-hour episode that will air on Feb 7 and got huge round of applause. So what is in stored? Is this a new "Lost"?

The shows premise revolves around a famous and loved Explorer, Emmet Cole who mysteriously went missing during one of his explorations. His wife Tess and his son Lincoln, are left behind with questions involving his disappearance  and are ready to go out to the Amazon and find the truth behind his . A documentary crew has gone with them to film everything and most of the shots were filmed documented style. They find his abandon ship where he was last seen and immeditely there are already paranomal occurances happening. Could it being Emmet?

In the first hour you meet all of the main characters. There are no familiar faces so the audience is introduced to a wide range variety of actors. As they are searching through the ship, they realize there are spirits that seem to have control over them. Just like paranormal activity, the camera shots are documented and are fast forward during the night. It will keep you on the edge of your seat as Tess and Lincoln desperately try and talk to the spirit asking if Emmet is still alive. The shaky camera angles and the amazon set is sure enough to get your heart beating faster as you are watching. The first hour does an increditble job drawing you in.

The second hour goes more in dept with the father/son relationship Emmet and Lincoln have. What I loved was some of the scenes were just like most of the flashback scenes from another ABC show "Revenge" Its very retro and there are some key elements in the flashback scenes that come full circle in the present. The second hour involves more of the spirit coming alive, and letting them know for a fact Emmet is out there. Of course what wouldn't be a television show if it didn't have some kind of romance, right? The second hour starts setting up the potential romantic relationship between Lincoln and his longtime friend and daughter of Emmet's cameraman, who is also missing, Lenna. The flashback scenes include there relationship as kids and how it affects there connection today.

The River has been defined as the new "Lost" which at the same time i have to agree with that statement. What is different about this is the episodes are more like mini-movies, which the ABC President said at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour last week. If done correctly it should have a great premier and draw the attention to the 18-49 demo. It has a great chance at a full season pickup for the Fall 2012 season.

The 2-hour Premier of "The River" airs Tuesday February 7 9/8c

Fudge! Did Modern Family Just Drop an "F-Bomb"?

Hide your kids folks, or maybe don't. Modern Family has everyone buzzing about the "F" word including the Parents Television Council. On tonight's new episode, the hilarious gay parents Cam and Mitch will tackle every parents worst nightmare, their child's first curse word. Sweet baby Lily has dropped the "F" bomb and has made the PTC upset. So much so that people are starting to protest tonight's episode.

According to a statement from the PTC in this E! news article, the PTC says the language is not suitable for a child that young and for a young child to be saying that on television. Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Eric Stonestreet took to Twitter this morning to defend the episode. "I'm so "effin" excited for tonights Modern Family, Ferguson tweeted, while Stonestreet replied back, "For fornication sake people! Again, how bout actually SEEING what you're against before u r so STRONGLY against it"

The Golden Globe winning show, says not to worry Lilly says the word "Fudge." Guess we have to find out for ourselves tonight?

Do you think Modern Family went too overboard this time?

The Bachelor: Season 16: Week 2: Sonoma and Tears

Hello Sonoma! The Bachelor kicked started things off in Ben's Hometown, Sonoma, California in another dramatic episode this week. All 18 girls arrived ready to find out more about Ben's style of living.
Tennessee Native Kacie B was the one to pick up the first one-on-one date of the season. During their downtown stroll Ben learned how to twirl the baton and even took Kacie to a theatre where surprise surprise Ben's special home movies of when he was a child were the main showing. The moment took an emotional turn when footage of Ben's father came on the screen. (His dad passed away a few years ago) Still the night ended well for  Kacie as she got the rose and even the first kiss.

Welcome back group dates! 11 women one man, they're back. And its a "Play date" don't worry it's not anything Bad, Ben's soft heart had children write plays so him and the girls could perform. Ben played a prince of course and even a sheep. The play was PG except for one moment when Monica "blew Ben's clothes off"
Now it seems that Blakey is probably the most hated woman in the bunch.  Samantha can't stand her even saying her head would "explode" if she got the rose. But yes of course Ben fell for Blakley's act and gave her the group date rose.

The final one-on-one date was given to Model Courtney and included a romantic hike in the woods. Their date was full of conversation and was enjoyable to watch.

Now comes the cocktail party and seriously Jenna you need to tone it down with the crying. Her mini breakdown brought out her insecurities telling Ben she is not used to being around so many women and she is a "nervous wreck." In the end Jenna went to go cry in the bedroom. Which led to finding Blakely crying in the luggage room. And you thought one was worse.

But the biggest shock of all came at the end of the promo when it seems Ben's ex girlfriend will be returning. Is it a ploy to get him back?

What did you think about last nights episode? Who would you like to see leave next?

It Ain't Grey's Without Grey

How would you feel if you found out Dr.McDreamy wasn't doing surgery anymore at Seattle Grace-MercyWest? Well the buying question is now turning into a hot topic for the water cooler as the second half of season 8 of Grey's Anatomy kick started this week.

At the end of this year, Ellen Pompeo and Patrick Dempsey's contracts will be up which leaves fans at the edge of their seats. Will they renew? What happens to the show if they don't? In a interview last year, Pompeo, who plays the ever complex dark and twisty Meredith Grey, said if they ask her to come back she would do it for the fans. Meanwhile in a interview with a French Magazine, her co-star Dempsey said a lot of things will be needed to take into consideration.

In its eighth season, Grey's Anatomy has had story lines that had pushed boundaries and even tested how far the show can go without their main stars. Last year in what had been a failed attempt at a transition, the show did a musical episode which failed to earn high ratings and earned bad press from critics. Still Grey's Anatomy is one of ABC's highest scripted drama on television and manages to win the key demo. Is that enough for fans to come back next season if the stars are gone?

In a interview with TVLine's Michael Auisello, showrunner Shonda Rhimes, says she already has her season finale all planed out regardless of the contract decisions. “I have figured out how the season is going to end, which was the most complex puzzle I’ve had to put together — ever,” Rhimes tells TVLine. ”We have all these moveable pieces of who’s coming back and who’s not, and finally I just decided to focus on what was going to be best creatively for the show and figure out a way to make it work REGARDLESS of what is happening [off screen].”

For sure the show will be coming back for a ninth season, hopefully with both stars back. How they negotiate we will find out in the coming months.
Will you continue to watch?

Are You Ready For Hollywood? Idol is Ready For You.

For the past 10 seasons we have watched, voted and anticipated the return of America's favorite singing competition. American Idol has had to endure major changes recently with the addition of Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler. Prior to the addition, American Idol's numbers have been declining 15 to 20 percent. Last year, the numbers slowly came back up and proved that change is everything. American Idol is gearing up its 11th season on January 18th and is already hyping the press but can it still hold its own?

In a recent interview with TvGuide.com, the judges said this season, you can expect the competition to be more intense. Lopez, who is coming back more blunt this season, says the contestants are hungry for a spot to go to Hollywood. "We have some from last year who came back who are so improved, I can't even believe it's the same person. I'm like, "Wait, you were the one with the hair like this, right? Wow, your voice has gotten so much better," says Lopez in the TVGuide interview. Still Tyler predicts this season will show how passionate the contestants are.

With NBC's "The Voice" returning in February right after the Super Bowl, you can expect the ratings battles to come full force. The main fight will be the coveted 18-49 demographic which had AI winning it last spring while The Voice was winning it in the summer. Many television critics claim American Idol to be the set winner with the ratings considering it to be the "granddaddy" of singing competitions. It will be interesting to watch and see if this 11th Season of American Idol is worth it. Are you ready for it?

The 11th season of American Idol returns to Fox Wednesday January 18th at 8/7c

The Bachelor Season 16: Meet the 25 Women and the Drama That Follows

Welcome to another "Dramatic" season of The Bachelor. Monday night's premiere found Ben F, the winemaker from Sonona, California, making his debut as the new bachelor.

We start the episode with a recap of last seasons Bachelorette finale. To me this is the time where we Que the sad music and B-roll for filler time. We learn of Ben's quest to find love. (Did I mentioned he dated Jennifer Love Hewitt before this) The lovely Chris Harrison makes his screen debut and introduces the footage of the girls.

During the footage i can't help but love hearing the backstory of these women and what i noticed was this season there are tons of women who are in the health professions. One girl that stood out from her package was Jenna, a today's version "Carrie Bradshaw. She is a "love blogger" on a quest to find love.
Another one of the girls who stood out in the package was Lindsle, from London England. She as a quirky/ interesting personality that could make a guy want to do the old fashion "Check Please, I'm Out" line. Her character is sure to bring some laughs on the show if she stays on.  Compared to previous seasons, there is only one woman who has a child. Shawn,  a finance worker, is on a quest to find the perfect man for both her an her son. Usually, the producers don't highlight all the women in the package so we end up meeting most of the women as the come out of the limo.

Maybe it's just me but as much as I love Ben I wouldn't mind seeing Brad Womack go back at it for a third time. (wishful thinking). Ben is looking sharp and ready to meet the women. Now i know they say first impressions are everything, but seriously women do you have to act like your college degrees don't mean anything? I found some of their introductions to Ben weird. I have to say as a woman who needs Granny's approval for any guy I date, i found the grandma coming to meet Ben very cute and bold move. By the look of Ben's face I could tell he really thought that grandma was for him. Between the Pageant sash, Derby hats, and horse riding in, these girls already have their claws out.

The women are already sizing each other up as Ben walks in the door. Now really 25 women and 1 guy, it must be really hard to get "alone" time. Every girl is making sure they get their moment. The one rose that defines the premiere  is the "First Impression Rose." That's the rose that is given out to the one woman who makes a great first impression. Brittany, the woman who brought her grandma, is trying so hard to get that rose and that makes all the other women jealous. The competition is getting intense as each girl is doing crazy things to try and top each other, especially the woman who raps... really? Jenna the blogger, reminds me of all the crazies on previous seasons. Will she be a Melissa of last season?
Here comes the drama!

Throughout the second hour, Monica seems to be raising some eyebrows as her "love" for Blakekly comes full force. Wait a second this is night one, what. The girls start questioning her reasons for being here, is she interested in girls or in Ben? Whatever Monica is up to it sure is getting everyone's mind off of the drama,. Jenna starts playing the "oh my goodness" card. Honey it's 2012 if she is interested in both sexes let it go and focus on why you are here, for Ben, stop crying please. Jenna decides to confront Monica which was a bad on her part. Can Ben already give the FIR already please.

Finally Ben grabs the rose and gives it to Linszi, the one who rode on a horse to meet him. Their  conversation was really good and i actually have her on one of my top 5's to hopefully continue in the show.

The actual rose ceremony is next, 7 will be going home, the ones that are safe are: Linszi, Jamie, Rachael, Blakeley, Emily, Kasey B, Kasey S, Brittany, Erica, Shawn, Nikki, Jennifer, Elise, Samantha, Courtney,  Jacklyn, Monica, and Jenna.

The last five minutes are spent on the promo for the entire season and by the looks of it there is lots of crying, lots of drama, and an ex girlfriend? But did Ben find the one?

Were you satisfied with the 18 women Ben picked?

To watch last night's 2-hour premiere you can watch it at www.ABC.go.com.

Come back next week for an all new episode of The Bachelor.

Time to get ready and break out the wine, roses and drama as a new season of The Bachelor returns tonight.  Last year's Bachelorette finale ended with Sonoma, Calif winemaker, Ben Flajnik getting his proposal turned down to Ashley Hebert. But his broken heart was quickly fixed when Bachelor producers tapped him to be the new Bachelor.

Tonight, season 16 premieres with 25 women hoping to earn the affection of the new Bachelor. In an exclusive interview with ABC "Good Morning America, Fajnik is ready to meet a woman with "confidence, intelligence" and with life experience under their belts.

The show always promises viewers to expect dramatic moments and on the first night, the ladies of The Bachelor seem to have their claws out the moment they walk in the door. Zap2it.com has picked the Top 10 Ladies to watch out for tonight on the premiere. Could one of those be the one?
The promo sure promises for it to be a high intense season: Watch here.
