And the Mirror Ball Trophy Goes To.....

In a season that has had more ups and downs, wardrobe malfunctions, and crazy dances, tonight Dancing With The Stars crowned a new champion. Military heartthrob JR Martinez, captured the audience and viewers with his heroic story as well as his smooth moves, to earn the Mirror Ball Trophy. Runner-up Rob Kardashian was shy of the trophy. During this season he was the underdog but proved to the viewers that he wasn't just like his sisters. Tonight's finale brought back all of this season competetors. The 2-hour long show, included performances by Lady Antebellum as well by the past contendors. Each contestant came back with their partners to perform one of their favorite dances.  The competition was intense this year, but is it still enough to bring in the viewers?

Ratings for DWTS have slipped drastically since last year. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, host Tom Burgeron, said that because DWTS airs both Fall and Spring, most fans feel that it is too repetative. One of the main problems i had with these past season DWTS is that the cast isn't up to par with past cast. This season, while it did make buzz in the beginning, wasn't as exciting in the middle. The one good thing DWTS did this year was add new elements to the show. Adding themes and quick dances, made the competition intense.

Tonight's finale added a question to producers if they still want to do a spring version. For now, DWTS will be on Hiatus and The Bachelor will premiere in January. Congrats to JR Martinez and Karina Smirnoff.
