Can Dancing With the Stars get its Groove Back?

While we love those spray tans, sequence outfits and that mirror ball trophy, can you still be enough for us? Season 17 of Dancing With The Stars is about to commence ,and while the past couple of seasons of been lackluster, we find that even now there is still a whole lotta buzz about the show.

This season for the first time EVER in the series history, DWTS returns on Mondays, with the Results show being on the same night as the performances, Ratings have significantly fallen in the past, due to it's fierce competitor "The Voice" but, is this season's cast big enough to draw back longtime viewers and new ones?

Let's Size up the cast:

Blast from the Past, Bill Nye, Stacy Karosi and "OH I'M SO EXCITED" Jessie Spano
Hello 90s! If you loved watching Television in the 90s this season is for you. Leah Remini and Elizabeth Berkley (we haven't forgotten about Showgirls) are about to give us a preview of a Saved by the Bell Reunion (YES). I say Elizabeth has what it takes to bring some stiff competition. However with Leah partnered up with Tony, I say "It's On". Switching gears to Bill Nye the science guy. He was able to provide entertainment in our classrooms and i can defiantly see him bringing the quirks to live television! This is going to be fun and quirky.

Reality TV Stars: Snooki and Jack Osborne
I am not going to lie, This actually makes me excited! Kelly Osborn's run on DWTS was fantastic, can her brother live up to high expectations. Snooki, you never fail to amaze me, From your drunken nights on the Shore to motherhood, I am proud of you for growing up. Will she be better than The Situation?

Hello Young Viewers!
What wouldn't be DWTS if they weren't trying to get that 18-35 demo. Enter Corbin Bleu, Brant Daugherty of "Pretty Little Liars, and Glee's Amber Riley. Don't really know much about PLL star and
his experience however , Bleu and Riley have been on musical shows/movies, so I wouldn't be surprised
if they end up in the top 5.

Inspiration for us all
Valerie Harper captured America's hearts with her portrayal of Rhoda on the "Mary Tyler Moore Show" and after battling a life-threatening cancer she is ready to bring inspiration to us on the dance floor. This one makes me very excited to see and to see how therapeutic dancing can be for all. I hope she makes it into the top 5.

Iffy Iffy
Singer Christina Millian comedian Bill Engvall, and NFL star Keyshawn Johnson. The question is will
those 3 have a big enough fan base to pull them into the next round?

Which dancers are you excited for?  Do you still even want to watch?

Dancing With the Stars Season 17 kicks of Monday September 16 at 8 p.m ET/ 7 p.m CT on ABC

Is Barbara Walters saying Goodbye to Television?

It may be the end of an era for longtime television newswoman Barbara Walters. This afternoon, a source close to Walters confirmed a report to Deadline.com, that the 84-year-old host of The View will likely retire in May 2014.

The source confirms that ABC News will most likely give Walters "a huge sendoff with retrospects and  other special content" in the weeks leading up to her retirement. Walters, being in television for 52 years, has paved the way for women journalist as she was the first woman to co-host a news program back in 1974. (Today Show) She then joined ABC in 1976 and has had success anchoring 20/20 for 20 yars and co-hosting The View.

Earlier this year, Walters was hospitalized with the chicken pox and was rumored that she wanted to lighten up her workload. With the announcement of Joy Behar leaving The View and now Walters retiring, what does that mean for the hit ABC talk show? Who will replace them and what about the rest of The View ladies?

The View airs weekdays on ABC.

Dear Person in those Red Chairs, Turn Around! Season 4 of The Voice is Here!

Courtesy of NBC Universal

Three sexy men, one sizzling Colombian woman and a whole lot of competition, that is what you will be expecting tonight on television. Season 4 of NBC's "The Voice" returns Monday night with a brand new look as judges Usher and Shakira come in to shake things up after it was announced last fall that Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera will not be coming back for the mid-season premiere.

The return of the peacock networks hit show will be targeting a whole new range of talent and dynamics. Let's break it down.

The Judges: We already know how competitive Adam and Blake are but when you bring in urban and Latin flavor, the competition will be even stiffer. Usher takes the testosterone to a higher level. It's a "all boys" club feel with Usher challenging Adam and Blake, but don't count out Shakira."They complain that I play the lady card but it's not a gimmick--I am a lady," says Shakira in an exclusive interview with US Weekly.  In the newest promo for the premiere, Shakira says not to underestimate a 5-foot-3 Colombian woman. The show's concept will remain the same however, what seems to be different about it is the dynamics between each judge. The audience will have to adapt with the newcomers just as the veteran judges will be doing the same. Will is be able to pull in big numbers?

New Changes, Risker ratings: It's no secret that NBC is struggling a bit to pull in ratings. With Sunday Night Football out of the mix and shows like "Dancing With the Stars" and "American Idol", NBC is struggling to find something to get their network back to the top. Whatever you lose you do gain. Fans of Green and Aguliera might not be tuning in but the good part about the changes is it brings in a newer fan base. More younger demo's and an audience who are eager to see what Usher and Shakira can bring to the table. For the network, The Voice helped other NBC shows out. "I think we didn't realize how important The Voice was until it went away," says Brian Hughes, who specializes in audience analysis for ad firm Magna Global.  The peacock network is hoping this season will beat out American Idol since in the previous season's has always won the battle of singing contest. The true test will be when the live shows kick off later in the season.

Where do the winners go: Why is it that we can remember more about who wins on American Idol than we can about the winners of The Voice? Is The Voice more about the "mentors" than about the singers? Since The Voice has been on air, the winners haven't produced anything "main-stream". While  during the competition the contestants music does reach number 1 on ITunes, nothing after that seems to hit big time on the radio. That's where the hit show needs to work on

Season 4 of The Voice premieres Monday March 25 at 8/7c.

When It's Girl Meets World

If you were to ask any teenage girl in the 90s what they wanted to find in a relationship their response would be "A love like Cory and Topanga's".  For seven seasons, Boy Meets World captivated the hearts of audiences. The show, which aired on ABC Network from 1993-2000, followed lead character, Cory Matthews, and his friend's journey through life. Flash forward to 10-years later, a spin-off is in now in the works.

 Entertainment Tonight Photo
Last November, the news broke out about "Girl Meets World", a spin-off series about Cory and Topanga's daughter Riley. Ben Savage and Danielle Fisher will be reprising their roles as Cory and Topanga . Early this morning, Entertainment Tonight, got a behind the scenes on-set picture of the cast. While fans are excited about the upcoming spin-off, some are a little nervous about it airing on The Disney Channel. So here is the question, did the producers play the safe card?

"TGIF Fridays" was big for ABC in the late 90s. Shows like "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" and "Family Matters", were a part of that line up. Now Friday Nights are usually your "Kiss of Death" night, a night where viewership is down in overall and key demo because of the start of the weekend. "Girl Meets World" had the potential to bring back the "TGIF" on ABC or even been placed during the Wednesday Comedy line up.   Fans of Boy Meets World are now in their twenties, so the next logical approach would have been to get the pilot to air on ABC Family. ABC Family is the "in between" network between the three. If "Girl Meets World" would have been aired on this network, the producers can still talk about "teenage issues" and make it a bit more PG-13 so to speak. With the show being aired on Disney Channel, in my opinion, it leaves little room to focus on some major teenage milestones among other issues. What fans loved about "Boy Meets World, was it was raw and relatable.

The main focus of this spin-off is to see which demo it will attract. What is so brilliant is, there are two main demo's which the show could go either way. It will be interesting to see what the first few episodes will look like: How the back story will fit in to the plot of the spin-off and if Riley will follow in her dad's footsteps. But  Disney Channel,  here is one big request from "Boy Meets World" fans everywhere,  please don't mess up this show.

Are you looking forward to "Girl Meets World"?

Sheldon, Amy...Time To Get Physical

What do you get when you have two nerds who are "hot and heavy" for each other? The answer is a long awaited "coitus" That is where it seems to be heading for The Big Bang Theory's Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler. According to an interview done by Entertainment Tonight, stars, Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik dish on their characters upcoming sex plot-line. "It was mention this season", Mayim  reveals to reporter Christina McCarly. With Big Bang at mid-season, will fans be able to handle their sexy time if it comes?

Sheldon and Amy's romance have been the writers main focus since Mayim Bialik first popped on to the scene. She was first introduced to Sheldon by Raj and Howard after discovering her through an on-line dating site. Their two- year romance has progressed as now they are a bit more "touchy" and even hugged during the Valentine's Day episode. What will be interesting to see is how Sheldon gets Amy to get in bed with him.

We all know Sheldon is not really that touchy feeling when it comes to women. He is known more as a sophisticated nerd than a Casanova (aka Howard). Sheldon,is defiantly in love with Amy, so it is finally the right time to "seal the deal".

All this pending "sexy time" is what the writers hope to be ratings success. The Big Bang Theory, which is in its sixth season, has sky rocketed to be television's number one show. Every week it wins in overall viewers and in the 18-49 demo. With the Sheldon/Amy sex storyline in the mix, viewers will defiantly be in front of their television screens ready to see how this plays out and how will it affect them afterwards.

What do you think about the upcoming Sheldon/Amy Sex? How do you think it all goes down?

The Big Bang Theory aires Thursday nights 8/7c on CBS.

Who Will Be The Next Lucky Bachelorette?

After the drama, the tears and the heartbreak on The Bachelor, it's time for the biggest revenge out there, being picked to be the next Bachelorette. Lucky for fans of The Bachelorette, you won't get to wait that long for the announcement. ABC has announced in a press release , that the next hopeful Bachelorette will be reveled the night of the Bachelor Finale, March 11,  on the After the Final Rose Special. Usually, the one who doesn't get picked gets to be asked to be the Bachelorette, however, will ABC do something different this season?

After looking at TV Guide's "Bachelorette hopefuls" , there are many choices to chose from. Here are my top three ladies and why I believe one has a chance to steal America's heart.

First, there is Kaci B. She was in the top three during Ben Faljanik season and then mysterious popped up again for Sean's season, which of course, shocked Sean. Even though in the end Sean "Friendzoned" Kaci, fans were still rooting for her and sad when Sean let her go. Now the question is, will Kaci have that it factor to hook viewers in for the Bachelorette?

My second option would be Desiree.  She was called "the one who got away" by Chris Harrison and even fans were sad to see her go. The chemistry between Sean and Desiree was smoking hot however, Desiree's brother was a huge factor in Sean's decision to let her go during the hometown date. She was a fan favorite for a while and now fans are rooting for her to be the next Bachelorette. She has that fan base already and would be a great option for the next Bachelorette. Because of her "raging" brother,  would love to see how he rates the guys Des brings home for the hometown dates.

And then there is the one I really would love to see find love, this past season's Sarah. Sarah came on to the Bachelor and captivated audiences with her story about how she was born without an arm. Sarah never let her disability affect her life. While she did have a lot of challenges to overcome, Sarah's determination to find love is a story I believe would get viewers to watch this new season.

While there are many of other girls to chose from, especially if neither Lindsay or Catherine don't get chosen to be Sean's final one, we know one thing for sure, we can't wait to see the new twenty-five hunky Bachelors.

The ninth season of The Bachelorette premieres Monday May 20 at 9/8c on ABC.

Dancing With The Starts Season 16 Cast

Break out those spray tans, it's almost that time to get back into the ballroom. The cast of Dancing with The Stars for season 16 was announced early Tuesday morning on Good Morning America. Season 16  is the first season since the All-Star edition of DWTS that aired last fall to mediocre ratings. While at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour, Paul Lee, president of ABC Entertainment Group, said, "Turns out people like to see bad dancing as much as they do good dancing."

Season 16 cast has a good variety of celebrities. Some of the notable cast include, Country Music singer, Wynonna Judd and Kellie Pickler and Olympians Dorothy Hamill and Aly Raisman.( Check the Full List Here) However, is DWTS losing it's edge?

As a long time viewer, in my opinion, DWTS has been lacking in casting and in content. In the early days of DWTS, the cast made me want to tune in every week and now I suddenly find myself waiting until it goes up on-line so I can skip the ones I really don't care for. When the All-Star cast was announced, it seemed to be a perfect way to get longtime viewers back to watching however I felt it backfired. I still felt something was missing. Is two-hours too long? Is it because we no longer have the attention spand to sit down a full two-hours and watch because of DVR? For whatever it's worth, DWTS is showing it's age.

DWTS has always been at the top of it's game when it comes to ratings, and has always managed to have viewers come back despite having The Voice as it's top competitor but is it almost time to pull the plug?

We shall find out as the season begins in March.

Dancing With The Starts Season 16 begins March 18 8/7c on ABC.
