Kiss Them Goodbye: The Beginning Of The End For The Ladies Of Wisteria Lane

Seven years of scandal, betrayal, love and infamous water cooler moments, the ladies of wisteria lane are getting ready to say goodbye, but not without one final season of schemes. Sunday night ABC will premiere season eight, the final season of Desperate Housewives. The show, which premiered in 2004, sky rocketed to number one in the ratings with its crazy character antics. The ladies of Wisteria have cultivated the term "Housewife" and made modern everyday women gather on their couches to see the soapy style prime time drama.

Series creator Marc Cherry, scored big when he landed phenomenal actresses to play the roles of Mary Alice, Bree, Gabriel, Susan, Lynette and Edie. The show has earned multiple Emmy/SAG/ and Golden Globe nominations.

Desperate Housewives has always been one to push the boundaries of television. Each season has had nothing but heart-stopping moments and emotional moments which makes us come back for more. DH has always been at the top of its ratings however in recent years the show was down a bit from its prime.  In the past seven years, DH averages 16 million viewers. Cherry had signed a deal with ABC to keep it on the air through 2013 but this past summer he decided it was time to call it quits and end the show while it was still winning its time slot and being talked about

On Sunday night, long-time viewers will return to find Gabby and Carlos in a difficult position trying to deal with the death of Gabby's stepfather who Gabby, in self defense, killed. The premiere also deals with the marriage troubles of Lynette and Tom, which at the end of last season decided to go their separate ways after 15 years of marriage. Even Mary Alice might be on our screens. Brenda Strong talked to reporters from Zap2it.com at the season eight premiere party and said we will see more of the mystery of Mary Alice. Last seasons newest housewife, Renee, played by Vanessa Williams, says the new season will also have some lighter moments as well.

Whatever the outcome the final season of Desperate Housewives looks like it will end with a bang. Here is an exclusive final season promo of Season eight
