In a recent interview with TvGuide.com, the judges said this season, you can expect the competition to be more intense. Lopez, who is coming back more blunt this season, says the contestants are hungry for a spot to go to Hollywood. "We have some from last year who came back who are so improved, I can't even believe it's the same person. I'm like, "Wait, you were the one with the hair like this, right? Wow, your voice has gotten so much better," says Lopez in the TVGuide interview. Still Tyler predicts this season will show how passionate the contestants are.
With NBC's "The Voice" returning in February right after the Super Bowl, you can expect the ratings battles to come full force. The main fight will be the coveted 18-49 demographic which had AI winning it last spring while The Voice was winning it in the summer. Many television critics claim American Idol to be the set winner with the ratings considering it to be the "granddaddy" of singing competitions.
